Fire
Fire has been a theme that I always like. Sandro Botticelli used to turn Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy into paintings. In his depiction of the chapter of The Inferno, Botticelli repeatedly portrayed fire in various forms. Fire has a sense of uncertainty: abstract, untouchable, yet powerful. Fire itself bears contradiction. I painted dynamic and solid fire in a personal style. Here, fire is deprived of its connection to religious punishment and discipline, as if having a life of its own. Bright and dazzling, its imagery departs from symbolic meanings and turns into reckless creativity, extending outside the small frames into the unknown.
