Reach

When appreciating classical oil paintings, what catch my eyes are always the small body parts such as hands — they obviously exist but are often overlooked. Messages contained in different hand gestures spread outside the painting, and I start to reinterpret them. While depicting individual parts of the body, I feel a sense of strangeness among different bodies. It is this sense of strangeness that attaches an air of mystery to the hand: it can touch anything, and elevate the sense to spirit.
